As salaamu alaikum,

I’m a wife, mother of four and owner of two online businesses – a content marketing consultation and web writing service called Avid Writer Communications, LLC, and a professional resume writing service called Top Resume Writing. I’ve been earning a living from home since 2004 and I love it, masha’Allah. I get to be creative and earn an income while simultaneously maintaining a constant presence and influence in my children’s lives. After 10 years in the corporate world, there’s no place I’d rather be – I’m most comfortable working in my own space.

A little about my background

In 2003 I quit my job as an advertising account representative for a major newspaper after 8 years of climbing the corporate ladder to stay home with my then two year old daughter and newborn identical twin sons. After about a year, I grew restless (or as restless as you can be chasing a preschooler and two toddlers around). During 2004 I started earning money as a freelance magazine writer for a couple of Islamic publications including Our Rising Star Magazine and al Jumuah Magazine.

Late one night, while surfing the web, I stumbled across a forum for freelance writing work-at-home-moms. I discovered there was a demand for writers who could write marketing copy and web content for other businesses, and voila – my first business was born.

The truth about working at home

Both Muslim and non-Muslim women often approach me to find out how they can get started earning an income from home. These women are the inspiration for this blog.

Here’s the real truth about building a home-based business: There’s no magic formula or guaranteed blueprint for success. It takes hard work, discipline and planning. I’m here to share with you everything I know about how to build a profitable business, not lead you on with some “get rich quick schemes” (and believe me, there are lots of scams out there). My motivation for sharing what I know with you is simple – if I can do this, you can too, and I’m here to walk you through the process.

You can start your own profitable home-based business

This blog is specifically intended to help Muslimahs who are searching for a way to earn extra money from home to avoid getting a part-time job, or earn an income from the comfort of your own four walls that covers all of your living expenses. Students, mothers, single/married/divorced working Muslimahs, and grandmothers – anyone with a vision who’s motivated can start a home-based business. I believe women are natural entrepreneurs because we’re organized and used to juggling many different tasks all at once.
