Yesterday a received an email from a sister interested in starting her own home-based business. Like many of us, she has been rocked by the unstable global economy and job market and is in search of a better solution for her family. Read what she has to say in her own words:
“I am very interested in doing a home-base opportunity. However, I know nothing about how to run a business… I don’t know what talents I have to start a home-based business. I’m not very creative and I don’t know if I really have any talent that could be used in a home-based business. What should I do?”
My answer: You’re not ready to start a home-based business. Yet. You need to know two important things before launching a home-based business: 1) You have to know what product or service you want to sell; 2) you need to know that there is a demand for that product or service. While there’s more to operating a business that you’ll need to know, these two points are critical.
You’ll need to really believe in your business idea and be committed to putting in the hard work to make it happen. I suggested the sister search for a job with a work-at-home-company to quickly generate an income. While she works, she can do some research to help figure out what type of business she’s like to start. That’s exactly what I did. I started out working from home with Working Solutions and freelanced on the side. Eventually I secured enough regular copywriting clients and made the complete transition to full-time home business owner, masha’Allah.
Working from home and earning an income is an attainable goal, and there are many different ways to do so. Here are just a few ideas:
