Lately I’ve been under quite a bit of stress. I’d planned to enroll my children in summer camp program, but the plans have been placed on hold due to some unexpected circumstances. Ironically, this has been my busiest summer since starting my business in August of 2007. Normally the summer months are much slower, but I’m rather thankful that things are going so well.
Unfortunately, as I work to meet client requests, stick to deadlines for my own projects, and manage four bored kids, I’ve been neglecting myself. The headaches, insomnia and fatigue are all proof of that fact.
Since today is Jumuah Friday, I think I’ll just work a half day and spend the rest of the day resting and enjoying time with the family. I’ll take it easy this weekend because burnout is the last thing I need to deal with. I’ve learned that it’s important to know when to step away from it all. I dealt with a severe case of burnout in 2009 when my husband’s business went under and I was unexpectedly placed in the position of sole breadwinner.
