Attention writers/aspiring writers:
There are a couple of contest for young adult writers you should know about:
The Islamic Writers Alliance is hosting its 1st annual non-fiction writing contest, co-sponsored by the Zakat Foundation of America. The contest theme: “A Muslim’s Responsibility to Neighbors and Community.”
IWA provided this information on their website regarding the topic:
“The essay may be about an actual community project that addresses a specific problem(s) or it can be a hypothetical community project that would address a specific problem(s). The essay should include the importance of neighbors in your community.”
The contest is for young adults ages 13-17 years. For information about writer’s guidelines, please visit the Islamic Writers Alliance Website.
The second contest is the3rd Annual Islamic Fiction Stories Contest, also sponsored by the Islamic Writers Alliance. For information about writer’s guidelines, visit the Islamic Writers Alliance website. This contest is also for young adults ages 13-17.
The submission deadline for both contests is November 8, 2011. Both contests are a great opportunity to encourage our youth to express themselves in written form, and stretch creatively.
